Aira’s POV
I felt bad about chasing my sister away. Not so much my mother, but Elsa had been on my side. When I looked up to see she was back, I felt happy. As happy as I could, given the situation, anyway.
“I’m sorry, Elsa,” I said. “I didn’t mean to send you away.”
“I know,” Elsa replied. “That’s why I came back.” She sat down on the edge of my bed. “How are you doing?”
“I feel as though I’ve been sentenced to death,” I moaned.
Elsa patted my shoulder. “Father hasn’t said anything either way yet, has he? It’s just Mother who’s all fired up about you marrying Knox.”
“No. I haven’t heard from Father yet,” I admitted.
“Well, there you go. He’s not going to make you do anything you don’t want to do, I’m sure of it.” She took my hand. “Father’s not a monster, even if Knox is.”
I nodded. “True.” T……
