Helio’s POV
As I warmed the ice away from the inside out, I reached out through the mind-link to the wolf shifters who were attacking us. I looked at them with thawing eyes. My anger was helping me to melt faster, but that didn’t mean I didn’t have plenty to spare for our attackers.
‘What the f**k is going on?!’ I demanded over the mind-link, throwing my Alpha King power behind the order. ‘Why are you attacking us? You’re my own people, for f**k’s sake!’
My words were met with a wave of anger and betrayal. ‘We know what you’re up to. Don’t pretend you don’t know why we’re attacking. You’ve left us no other choice.’
What? ‘What are you talking about?’ I asked.
Another wolf shifter responded this time. ‘We know you’re raising taxes and taking our lands.’
