Helio’s POV
I didn’t know why I conjured my fire. If King Olwen decided to freeze me, it wasn’t as though the whole pack of them wouldn’t join in. I couldn’t fend them all off.
Hell, I couldn’t fend off King Olwen, truth be told. He had many more years on me to refine his ice magic. The best I could hope for was that Aspen could thaw his heart enough to get me unfrozen before my hundredth birthday.
When Aspen flashed her mark, I held my breath, looking from King Olwen, to Aspen, to Queen Bianca and Jack, and back again.
“So, we did a thing,” I tried.
King Olwen let out a wheeze like a deflating balloon. “You… you marked my daughter? Without my permission?!”
And his rage was back.
“We’re mates. I figured it was the right thing to do.”
King Olwen shook his head. “Howling Wind and Erupting Eclipse……
