Does He Think It's Me?

Cindra’s POV

I hesitated, standing just around the corner from where Helio had finished his interrogation of the wizard. I’d left the book I had been reading on the table with the others. I hadn’t meant to overhear, but it was hard not to with Helio being loud and the way his voice carried.

The air buzzed. His words kept replaying in my mind, and my heart fluttered with hope. Now, as his eyes flickered across my face, I could tell he was worried that I had overheard all of it.

He’d said he knew who his mate was.

Had he been talking about me? The rush of desire almost bowled me over. Our eyes met briefly. The air sparked. My stomach flipped, and my whole body tingled.

I turned away. Now wasn’t the time to bring it up. He might be worried about what I’d overheard, but his distress and concern……
