Knox’s POV
The road was being graded right to the end of the bridge, which was just starting to show the first signs of being a crossing over the wide river. I smiled and clapped the engineer on the back.
“Excellent work, Xylander. The bridge looks sturdy, and the road is of excellent quality. You should be very proud,” I said.
Xylander nodded and humbly replied, “It was a team effort, Your Royal Highness.”
“Yes, but it was your vision.” I surveyed the area, seeing the new people we’d inherited along with the territory happily working on the road and bridge in this area. A young woman had told me they’d been waiting for this sort of thing for a long time.
I was happy to give it to them. The least a king could do was provide infrastructure for his people. Or, Crown Prince, rather.
