Aira’s POV

“Goodnight, Aspen,” I said as we all began to retire to our rooms.

“What am I, chopped liver?” Helio asked.

I chuckled. “Goodnight, Helio.”

“That’s better,” he said, mollified. He gave me a wide smile and a hug.

But when he looked at Aspen, his good humor melted into something different. Something stronger.

Something smoldering.

Aspen blushed, and Helio put his arm around her, guiding her back to their suite where I had no doubt in my mind what they would be doing next.

I sighed. They were so much in love.

Now that she wasn’t so lost to us, Father gave Mother the same look sometimes. Otherwise, he was absolutely besotted. Gentle. Happy.

When will a man look at me that way?

My skirts rustled as I went back to my room. My lady’s maid helped me out of my dress, but then I dismissed……
