Kora’s POV
I wandered through the stacks in the library, letting the sunlight filtering in through the curtains light my way. I found the section on the history of the pack just after the one about martial arts techniques. I picked up one of the leather-bound volumes on pack relations and opened it.
Based on the rumors that had come over the border, Helio was fine. Aspen was still there, and they still hadn’t spoken to her parents. Sure, it had only been a few days, but I was anxious.
I felt someone come up behind me, and in a flash, I spun around, sword drawn and aimed at the presence. Then, his scent hit me.
He tilted his head, glancing between the end of my sword and the book in my arms before meeting my gaze.
“Your senses have improved, though I’d appreciate it if you didn’t stab me ……
