Chapter 41: We're Being Attacked

We're being attracted but who is attacking us. There was a roar that made the windows, in the carriage, shake. The carriage door swing open which made me jumped. It was Rudra and he has Raiden with him.

"Get in and don't come out untill I say so. Got it?" he demanded at her.

"Yes" she said and panicking. Rudra then looked at me. His face more softer.

"That includes you too, my pretty little demon" he said more softly. I nodded at him.

"Yes, of course swamp beast" I assured him. He looked pleased with that. He was about to leave when I grabbed his arm.

"What's going on? Who's attacking us?" I rushed out. He looked at me with concerns on his face. He cupped my cheeks to calm me down.

"Trolls are taking us, my love but don't fret. This is not my first time dealing with them. Me, my father, my men and alpha Johnson's men know what we are doing. All you got to do is stay in this carriage. It is enchanted for your protection. They won't be able to come in" he said sincerely. I just nodded. There was another roar and people was shouting. I heard swords clanging together in the background. Rudra cursed under his breath.

"Stay put. You'll be safe. I have to join them" he said sternly.

"Ok, just be careful. I can't loose you" getting all emotional and getting worried for him. I can't bare to loose him. I don't think I couldn't cope without him in my life.

"Always, my love. I always come back to you. Even after death" he said softly with so much affection in his voice. He kissed my forehead and left. Closing the door behind him. This is not right. I feel useless. I wanted to go out and help but I know Rudra wouldn't like that. He will never forgive himself if something happens to me. So I did what I've been told and stayed put. I don't want him get distracted when he's busy fighting the trolls.

"We're not safe here. I need to come out" Raiden said, getting all hestirical. I just rolled my eyes.

"Rudra said to stay put. We should listen to him" I said simply. Raiden just scoffed.

"And he also said that this carriage is enchanted to keep the troll out, so we're safe here. Now shut up and wait for him to return" I added. Already getting irritated being in same place with her.

"What would he know anyway? He just think we're weak and don't know how to handle ourselves" she grumbled. I was going to say something when the carriage was shaking violently that me and Raiden fell off our seats. I looked up and saw a troll staring inside the carriage. As soon as Raiden saw the creature, she screamed the top of her lungs. That startled the troll. It was mad. It was now smashing the carriage with it's clobber. Raiden kept on screaming.

"We're going to die. I got to get out of here" she said hestirically. Smack. I slapped Raiden across her face so she can shut up.

"Would you please shut the f**k up? Your screaming ain't helping. Get a hold of yourself women" I snapped at her. She was looking at me stunned, as she was holding her sore cheek.

"As long as we're in here, we are safe" I told her more calmly now. She took a few deep breath to calm her nerves. However, it was short lived cause the troll was shaking the carriage viciously. It then flip the carriage over. Now we're we were upside down.

"I can't stay here. We're sitting ducks if stay here any longer" Raiden rushed out but before I could stop her, she kicked the door open and ran out into the woods like a bat out of hell. I climbed out and chased after her. I don't know why I even going after her. She's nothing but trouble for me and Rudra but no, to my dismay, my conscience won't allow it. So here I am, going after her.

"Raiden stop. Where are you going?" I shouted and getting out of breath.

"Don't know but anywhere but here" she shouted back as she was still running. It wasn't long that I finally caught up to her and grabbed her.

"Stop. We need to head back. They would be wondering where we are" I tried to reasonably. She yanked her arm away and glared at me.

"Well of course they would looking for me but I can't say about you though" she sneered. I'm starting to loose my patience with this woman.

"For goddess sake, get off your high horse. If you ain't the alpha daughter and marrying Rudra, no one would think twice to look for you cause no one wants to deal with a whiney, spoilt girl" I said bluntly. She shrieked.

"Why you..." Raiden started to talking when we heard twigs snapped. Raiden was about to shrieked but I quick enough to cover her mouth and mouthed to her to be quite and don't move. She was nodded her head, trembling. Good lord, she need to get a grip. Is this how she's going to react once she's queen if there's going to an attack to the kingdom? If so, then it's doomed. We stayed on the spot like statues. Hoping whatever it is would go away and it is safe to leave. After a few minutes of waiting if we could hear any noise. I let go of Raiden. She collapse on the ground. She was unconscious. You got to be kidding me.

"Raiden wake up. Come on wake up" I demanded and shaking her in the process but she wasn't waking up. With no other option, I lifted Raiden, fling her over my shoulder and headed back to the carriage; hoping that Rudra find me half way. The woods was muddy and it was pouring down, making it hard to walk while carrying Raiden. For a slim person, it feels like I'm carrying a horse and I did carried a horse once. My clothes was drenched, my hair was sticking to face and my whole body was sore but I can't stop just in case something attack us. As I was walking back, I tripped over and fell on to my knees, making drop Raiden. I was exhausted and I needed rest but I knew I couldn't stop, so I dragged Raiden off the ground. I put her arms over shoulder and carried her on my back. I was dragging my feet through the mud, out of breath and hungry. Now to think about it, I'm due to have blood soon. I heard a growl behind me. I stopped automatically. I slowly turned round and saw the troll from earlier. It was tall as a tree, muscular, it skin was a mossy green and it had blood red eyes that was staring at me.

It slowly walked up to me and I slowly walked back. It licked it's lips and looking at me like I'm five course meal. It was hungry and ready to eat me. I couldn't blink out of here due to exhaustion. I had one thought in mind. It was risky one but it was better than nothing. I muster all of the power I have and blast it away. The troll was thrown a few feet away from me and hit a tree. It stumbled back up. The troll looked at me with fury in it's eye. It was murderous now, so I bolted while carrying Raiden on my back. I ran as fast as I could. My legs was burning and my chest felt like it was squeezing my my lungs but I couldn't stop and risk of getting killed. To my dismay, I didn't run fast enough cause the troll was hot on my heels and as soon as it was close enough, it fling across and hitting a tree; making drop Raiden in the process. I wince in pain. It came up to me and grabbed me. It's huge hands crushing my body slowly, making it hard move an breath. I felt bones breaking but i couldn't tell which one due to how much pain i was in.

I saw Raiden slowly waking up and once she saw what was happening, she scampered onto her feet and bolted out of there, without a second glance. That f*****g b***h just left me. What f*****g a coward. I have no one to blame but myself. This is what I get for being a good person. However, I didn't have the strength to call her. The troll was squeezing me extremely tight and I was loosing my focus. My eyes started to go blurry and I was feeling woozy. Everything started to fade in the background, and the last thing I saw was the troll staring right back at me and after that, darkness came over me.
