Chapter 8.3: Rudra's birthday celebration: The Royal Dragon Awakens

I can see them arguing. Raiden is getting into Rani face and jabbing her with her finger but Rani doesn't look fazed by it; to think about she looked rather bored with Raiden's tantrum. Going through the guests to reach to them, what I heard made my blood boiled.

"I want you to stay away from Rudra you filthy demon. He's mine" Raiden spat at Rani.

"Firstly, He's not yours, secondly it's going to be difficult to stay away from him considering I'm his personal servant and thirdly, you can't make me but you could try" Rani said calmly.

"You won't be for long once I become queen and produce an heir for him. Once I do, I make sure that you never see a daylight for the rest of your miserable life. I'll make sure that you be tortured everyday that you be begging for the mother of all dragons to end your life" she gritted.

"You could try but I won't recommend it" Rani warned.

"Why not? You're nothing but a commoner w***e" Raiden said.

"What makes me a w***e?" Rani questioned.

"What?"

"You heard me. What makes me a w***e?" Rani repeated. Raiden looked taken back by that question.

"Umm ... well.. you see...uhhh" Raiden mixing up her words now, looking loss.

"What's the matter Raiden? You seemed to be tongue tied" Rani mocked.

"Seems that you don't know what the word means, let me educate you. A w***e is a person who will do anything to get what they want. Now tell me, what gave you to believe that I'm a w***e?" My little demon patronised. Raiden was red in the face, her hands was shaking. Her mouth open and closing like a fish. She looked embarrassed.

"Well I'm waiting" Rani impatiently said, tappingher foot.

"Fine you may not be a w***e but you're definitely a blood sucker low life and more importantly I'm more beautiful than you" crossing her arms, looking smug. Seriously, that her comeback? And she thinks she's more beautiful than my Rani? She's delusional to think that.

"I have to admit you are beautiful, I'm not blind but that is all you got and if you think that's more importantly to you then the royal pack is doomed" Rani sounded tired with the conversation.

"You little b***h" Raiden screeched and the next thing I know it, she slapped Rani on the face. I growled, making Raiden jumped. I went werewolf speed and grabbed Raiden's neck. How dare she lay a hand on my pretty little demon.

"Apologise" I demanded. Raiden's eyes went wide with fear but she just shook her head, trying to loosen my grip.

"I don't like to repeat myself. Apologise" Squeezing her neck hard but then I felt my neck tightening, making it hard to breathe. I dropped Raiden and I dropped to my knees, trying to catch my breath. Rani rushed to my side, looking concerned.

"What's happening? What have you done to him" Rani demanded. Rubbing her neck, Raiden just smirked at her.

"Should you tell her or shall I?" Looking confident now. Rani looked at me in confusion.

"What she talking about Rudra?" She asked concerning. Getting impatient Raiden looked at Rani.

"Rudra signed a blood contract meaning that he can't cause me any physical harm towards me and if he does he'll be in extreme pain" she explained. I really want to killer so badly. Rani looked at me confirmation. I just nod to her. Her face fallen, looking crushed. She signed and got up, took a step back and started to walk away.

"Wait Rani, was going to tell you. Don't walk away" I desperately said.

"It's fine Rudra, just need to be alone for a bit" she said not looking back. I wanted to go after her. I wanted to explain to her that I didn't have much of a choice. I took a deep breath get my barings then I got up and stalked towards Raiden. I was furious. My hands started to turned into claws, my eyes turning red. My wolf was feeling murderous. He wanted to tare her to shreds for hurting Rani. Raiden was trembling now. The panick in her eyes. Blood trained from her body. If she looked any paler, you would mistake her as a ghost. Every step a take, she take a step back. I kept walking towards her with slow, steady steps. She kept taking a step back until she hit a wall. I trapped her by my arms each side of her face. I leaned in close to her.

"I may not able to touch you but if you make that stunt again I'll will find away to make your life a misery. Don't you ever and I mean ever cause any harm, speak or even dare to go near Rani. She is beneath you. I'll make sure everyone you love suffer for you actions. Do I make myself clear?" I said murderously. She nodded her head viciously.

"Good. Get out of my sight. Looking at you repulse me" I sneered. She stumbled off after that. Rubbing my face, I went to look for Rani and hoping she'll let me explain.

Rani

I walked out of the hall and went to the garden. I needed to get out of there. To have some fresh air, to think. I wasn't angry at Rudra. I mean how can I? I know he he wouldn't sign a blood contract if he didn't have much of a choice. I just knew that b***h Raiden wanted to rub it in my face. I saw the smirk on her face. It's a chilly night. A cool breeze fanning my face. It feels nice.

"You shouldn't be on your own this late at night" a voice I know from anywhere.

"Marco what are you doing here" I questioned.

"I could say the same thing about you chipmunk" he raise a brow. I just rolled my eyes.

"I just wanted some fresh air. I'll be back inside soon" I assumed him. He just nod.

"I'll join you. Keep you company" he said lovingly. I didn't mind. I welcomed his comfort. We stayed in silence for while, enjoying each other company. After a moment of silence, Marco broke the silence.

"Why are you really out here? And don't you dare lie to me. I know you" eyeing me carefully. I signed. Really does know me so I told him everything except the part about the contract. Marco was listening to me carefully and thoughtfully. Once I was done explaining everything, Marco pulled me into a big hug.

"Oh Rani, you deserve so much better and more" he said while rubbing my back caringly. He push me back a little to see me. He cupped my face with his big hands. Stroking my cheek.

"You are a precious gem Rani and don't think otherwise. I am so great full that you're in my life" looking straight at me with his big, brown eyes that hold so much love in his eyes. He wipe a tear in my eye. We were interrupted by someone clearing there throat.

"I was looking for you everywhere Marco" a girl asked impatiently.

"Sorry Sarah, I just need some fresh air" Marco replied.

"You came out for some fresh air and no less than with that?" She said accusingly as she was pointing at me. For the goddesses, what is up with these people got against me. However, I felt Marco shaking. He growled and his eyes turned golden. His forehead scrunched up. Was he angry? I never seen him like this.

"Go back inside, now" bellowed at her. The girl flinched and scampered off back inside. I was shell shocked. Marco never loose his temper, well not what I know of that is. He took a deep breath and turned back to face me. His face soften and his eyes back to normal.

"Sorry about that. I didn't scare you did I?" He asked worryingly. I just shock my head no. To be honest, I was speechless. He signed with relief.

"Good good. I don't like people disrespecting you. I loss my cool. I talked to her about her behaviour. I'm just very protective when its comes to you" he laughed nervously while rubbing the back of his head. I felt touched.

"It's fine Marco. Honestly but thank you though" giving him a small smile. He smiled back.

"Let me escort you back inside. The Prince would be shifting into his dragon soon"

"Ok thank you Marco" I said politely.

"Don't mention it chipmunk, it's the least that I can do after that out burst" he laughed. I couldn't help but laugh with him. I wrap my arm in his arm and we headed back inside the hall.

When we were inside and guide me to my seat.

"I have to go and find my date. Would you be OK while I'm gone" he asked.

"Yes I'll be fine Marco. I'm a big girl. Don't worry about me, just find that date of yours" I assured him. Waving my hand at him. He chuckled to that. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and left.

I was busy watching people doing their own thing when I noticed Rudra rushing over towards me, looking worried. When he finally got to me, he lift me up on my feet, holding my arms.

"Where were you Rani? I was looking everywhere for you" he asked, concern on his face.

"I just went to the garden to get some fresh air. I was going to come back" I replied. He signed with relief.

"I was worried about you. Don't scare me like that. I wanted to explain to you about the contract" he rushed out but put my hands up to stop him.

"It's fine Rudra, honestly" I said truthfully.

"No it's not fine. I want to explain. Please let me explain" looking at me desperately. I saw the vulnerability in his eyes.

"Really Rudra, it's ok. I'm fine. I'm not angry at you" giving him a reassuring smile. He just stared at me. Searching if I'm really fine. For a moment of stared, he looked satisfied. He took a deep breath. Trying to calm himself down. He sat me down to my seat and he was sitting next to me, holding my hand tight like he'll be afraid I'll vanished if he let go. I let him hold my hand if it helps him ease his anxiety. Before we know it it was time for Rudra's father to make announcement.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming for my son's birthday celebration. It is finally time that my son, Rudra, transform into his dragon. Please can everyone head outside to witness the transformation. I don't know about you but I'm not planning to be suffercate and being squashed by my son in this hall" he boomed. The guests laughed at that last comment.

Everyone went outside to witness the transformation. I can feel the excitement of radiating from everyone. Rudra came over to me and dragged me to the front.

"I want to face me when shift to my dragon and I want you to be the first when I do" I stated. I just nod to him. His father beckoned him to come. Rudra gave my hand a squeeze before he went to join his father. The king face the crowd.

"We are all here to witness my son to transform into his dragon. We have a minute to midnight left. Get ready to count down." He boomed to the the guests. The next thing I know we had ten seconds left until we see Rudra's dragon. People started the count down.

"10...9...8...7...6" I started to feel anxious all of a sudden. My hands was sweaty and I started to feel hot. What is happening to me. People was still counting down by the second.

"...3...2...1" Everyone shouted and the next thing I knew, I saw Rudra dropped down on the floor. Smoke coming out of his body then there was fire that was surrounding him. You could feel the heat coming off from it. The wind blowing around us. Then I saw it. Rudra's skin turned into scales. He was growing bigger and bigger. His eyes glowing gold. The fire still whirling around him. Then I heard a roar. Everyone was dead silent. The fire and smoke disappeared and what I saw was huge dragon with red scales that has gold flecks at the end of each scales. Those golden eyes was staring at me. I was in awe. I have never seen such magnificent creature in my life. He was beautiful. Everyone cheered.
