My chest heaved as if I had run a marathon. The sight before me was one that I never wanted to see in my lifetime ever again. It was one that I’ve tried to erase but was forever etched behind my eyelids and in my memories. It reminded me of a memory that has haunted me forever and will still continue to haunt me as long as I live.
“It can’t be, it can’t be. He's got to be alive. There's no way he's dead”. I shook my head wildly, uncaring about how crazy it made me look.
My hair was drenched and the strands at the back stuck to my neck like second skin. The water droplets went down my already cold skin and as the wind rustled through the trees, I shivered involuntarily. My eyes went to the body on the floor. “Wake up.
