CHAPTER 7
ALETHEA
“Kaiden?”
He looked at Axel and back at me with a smirk on his face. Before he could do anything, I walked out on him.
I thought that would make him back off rather he continued following me and I could tell he was displeased seeing me together with his brother but that was exactly what I wanted. I wanted him to feel that pain that I felt before.
“Are you seriously going to ignore me, huh?” He snatched my hands and I looked at him, terrified by what he could do next.
“Can you let me go? I don't like this, Kaiden,” I warned, struggling to get out of his hold.
He didn't care one bit, he tightened his grip on my hands and I was sure he was planning to leave a bruise on it. “Are you insane? Let me go, Kaiden.”
I kept struggling, trying to get out of his hold and succeeded. My wrists were already red and he seemed satisfied just looking at it. He was a monster and a maniac.
“Are you satisfied? You've injured me after all,” I showed him the bruise he caused.
He looked at it only for a second and averted his gaze. “I knew you were pained by the heartbreak but I never expected you to stoop so low, Alethea. Can't you stop w*****g around, huh?”
My blood boiled at his statement and the next thing I knew, I slapped him hard on the face. He paused for a bit, touching his face. The slap was so loud that everyone's attention was now diverted to us.
“w***e? You're one to talk,” I scoffed. “Weren't you screwing my best friend just last week? And now you want to act like a saint? The balls on this guy for real.”
He laughed. “So you think you can get back at me using my brother? You think it'd affect me?”
“And so what if I date your brother? You talk about it not triggering you, yet you come all this way to call me a w***e just because I stood with him. You're not only a jerk and a cheater but also a scumbag.”
Everyone gasped at my statement. Apparently, I'm the first to speak to kaiden like that. He's used to showing off with his power and trying to intimidate others but not me. I used to be that girl who would follow him like a lost puppy but not anymore.
“You'd pay for this, Alethea.”
I scoffed and looked him straight in the eye. “Do your worst, scumbag.”
It felt like that was all I needed to trigger him. The next thing I knew, he dragged me by the hair and was pulling me out of the party.
No one tried to stop him because they were all afraid of him and I kept screaming to let me go. “Let me go, you freak!”
It was as if my insults only added more salt to the injury because he tightened his grip. I saw Elaine running towards our direction, she tried hitting him but Kaiden was fast and caught her in the nick of time.
He let go of me, his focus was now on Elaine. Her breaths became heavier as she tried taking a few steps backwards and Kaiden kept walking towards her.
I started panicking, feeling like it was entirely my fault and I wouldn't forgive myself if anything should happen to her.
I ran quickly to the front, blocking his path. He was really tall so looking down at me made me feel like a mouse but I had the courage to fight back.
“It's me you want, so stay away from my friend you d**k ward,” I insulted.
He was about to slap me and I closed my eyes in haste. I felt like he was taking too long to hit me, and slowly opened my eyes only to find Axel standing in front of him, he caught kaidens hands in time.
“What's wrong little brother? Having trouble moving?” He mocked, watching Kaiden struggle to get out of his grip.
“Are you really going to take this slut side over your own brother, Axel?” He demanded to know.
Axel looked amused by that statement and let out a chuckle. “Oh, so now I'm your brother? That's new.” He said.
Suddenly, kaidens face got all red so I panicked that he'd collapse soon enough. “A–Axel, I think you should let him go,” I pleaded with him.
“No, he can handle it,” Elaine chipped in.
I kicked her gently. “Ouch!” She winced in pain. I walked towards him and tried begging him to let Kaiden go.
“Please, let him go. You'd get in trouble if anything should happen to him,” I told him, but he didn't look bothered one bit.
“Apologize to her,” he told Kaiden.
“What?!” He frowned at the statement.
“You heard me. Apologize to her and do it now,” he stated, tightening his grip and causing him to get all puffy.
“Fine. Fine. I'm sorry.”
Axel looked at me for approval and I nodded in response. Axel let him go finally, he stumbled to the ground and tried catching his breath. It was then his minions gathered round him.
“Are you okay, Kaiden?” They inquired.
He got all fumed up and yelled, “Leave me the f**k alone!”
They flinched at his words and moved away from him. Some of them tried helping him up but he refused and got up on his own. He made his way out with his entourage but not without sparing me one last glance.
“This is not over.”
He walked out with them and I turned to thank Axel. “Thanks, Axel. Kaiden probably would've chopped my head off if not for you,” I joked.
He tucked his hands in his pants, keeping a straight look. “Why did you plead for him?” He inquired.
“W–What?” I was confused at first.
“You heard me,” he said, giving me time to comprehend the question.
“I just didn't want you to get in trouble,” I replied. He spared me
one last glance and walked out, leaving me in a state of confusion.
What the f**k just happened?!
