CHAPTER 10
ALETHEA
As we walked out of the coffee shop, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Kaiden's gaze was fixed on me, his eyes burning with intensity. I tried to ignore him, but I could feel his eyes on me, boring into my skin.
"Alethea, let's go," Elaine said, tugging on my arm.
But I couldn't move. I was frozen in place, my eyes locked on Kaiden's.
"Alethea, come on," Elaine said again, her voice more urgent this time.
I finally tore my gaze away from Kaiden's and followed Elaine down the hallway. But I could feel his eyes on me the whole time, watching me, waiting for me to slip up.
As we walked, Elaine chatted about her day, but I wasn't listening. I was too busy thinking about Kaiden and what he might do next.
