Rhys wakes in the morning, his eyelids flickering open to stare at the white ceiling above. It is fight day, he knows it with every single cell in his body. He is feeling more confident than maybe he should. He has had good instruction, but he is not sure whether top quality lessons in the final stretch can actually make up for what came before.
His whole body turns and his eyes land on Ve, who is sitting on her bed, leaning against the wall, dressed once again with a book in her hands, quietly reading. He can tell from the color of the cover that she is on to the next one. He didn’t even catch the title of the last one. Maybe he should ask, maybe he could read it.
