The two walk across the grassed area trying not to draw any attention to themselves. It looks like any other day. Nothing is obvious that they are taking the first step toward something else. Rhys doesn’t look back at Ve again, just hobbling forward, trying to act as normal as possible. It really strikes him that he could have been so much further along if he had just looked twice at the woman beside him. What did she do to make him disregard her completely? Was it her small stature or was it that his father passed her off as a joke with such efficiency that he failed to even dig under the surface to see the value himself, just believing his father's malicious intention completely.
What happened the day before was not a single lucky shot when he wasn't prepared enough, the amount of time……
