The dining hall was a whirlwind of activity, with the royal family and their guests seated at the grand table. The pressure to serve flawlessly was immense, but I kept my head down, focusing on my task. The clinking of goblets and murmured conversations filled the air, blending into a background hum as I carefully poured wine for the beta’s family.
“Just get through this,” I whispered to myself, clutching the heavy tray.
Moon stirred suddenly, her presence flooding my mind.
Mate.
The word hit me like a thunderbolt. My hands faltered, and I nearly spilled the wine.
“No,” I muttered under my breath. “Not again.”
But Moon’s voice was insistent. He’s here. Look.
My chest tightened as my eyes were drawn, almost against my will, to the far end of the table. And then I saw him.
