Luna
I paced my small cell, one hand pressed against my aching back, the other cradling my swollen belly. The contractions had eased by morning, but fear still gripped my heart.
"Jack!" I called out softly when I heard his familiar footsteps. "Please..."
He appeared at my cell door, concern etched on his face. "Luna? What's wrong?"
"The contractions..." I whispered, glancing nervously for other guards. "They started last night. It's too early, Jack. Two months too early."
His face paled. "Are they still coming?"
I shook my head. "They stopped, but... please, tell Sarah. Tell Kane. The baby..."
"I'll get word to them immediately," he promised. "Try to rest. I'll make sure you're excused from field work."
My legs trembled as another wave of exhaustion hit me. I sank onto my thin mattress, pulling Ka……
