I stood at the head of the grand hall, my face an unreadable mask as the final rites of the coronation were completed.
The hall erupted in cheers, the pack celebrating the crowning of their new Luna. Crystal stood beside me, her posture poised and victorious, wearing the ceremonial crown like it had always belonged to her.
My stomach twisted.
I had seen Luna in the crowd. Her face was pale, her lips pressed into a tight line as she watched. She looked like a ghost haunting the edges of the room, unseen yet painfully present.
Then she moved.
Step by step, she walked forward, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
I tensed.
Miriam had called her earlier. I knew it must have been her doing. That woman had always hated Luna, always sought to keep her beneath the pack’s heel.
