Luna
The cold stone floor had become my constant companion. I shifted uncomfortably, trying to find a position that wouldn't make my swollen belly ache. The thin blanket they'd allowed me had been taken away days ago, leaving me with nothing but the rough prison clothes against the chill.
"Just a little longer, little one," I whispered, rubbing my stomach where my baby kicked restlessly. "We have to stay strong."
Footsteps echoed down the corridor, making my heart race. The guards' boots always sounded different from visitors - heavier, more purposeful. But these steps were lighter, accompanied by the click of heels.
Elder Miriam appeared at my cell door, Crystal beside her. My heart sank at their matching cruel smiles.
"Get up," Miriam commanded. "You've been lying about long enough. Today you……
