Luna
Kyla's grip on my arm was gentle but insistent as she guided me through the pack house corridors. My feet moved automatically, but my mind was lost in a fog of confusion and pain. Kane's empty eyes haunted me, so different from the warm eyes I've seen few days later.
Mate wrong, Moon whimpered inside me. Not our mate anymore. Changed. Wrong.
"I know," I whispered, one hand instinctively cradling my stomach where our baby grew. "But why? What happened to him?"
Kyla shot me a concerned look. "Luna, try to stay calm. Think of the baby."
The baby. My baby. The thought brought fresh tears to my eyes. What kind of life would the child have now? Born without a father and seen as a bastard?
He came, Moon insisted suddenly. Came to door. Tried to help.
