Mrs. Sullivan hands me a cup of coffee, which I gratefully accept, though I doubt I will actually drink it. It’s just the two of us now. Mr. Sullivan left a few hours ago to take care of things at home while also overseeing the ongoing investigation into the ship.
They are compiling a list of passengers' lost belongings for reimbursement, and someone has asked me to write down what I lost as well. But I can’t bring myself to do that right now. Thinking about material things feels wrong when Channing is still unconscious in this hospital bed.
Jennifer also went out to check on her children, but she will return soon, all of them will. Since the swelling had subsided, the doctors approved Channing's second surgery.
