WADE
I wake up to an empty bed and sit up to stretch, but I immediately regret it. Every muscle in my body screams in protest, and I wince as a sharp pain shoots up my leg.
With a limp, I head to the bathroom to relieve myself before scrubbing my face, noticing the dark circles under my eyes, as if I have been sick for days. Falling into that water took its toll on me.
Opening the medicine cabinet, I take a bottle of painkillers, shake two into my palm, and throw them back dry, grimacing as they dissolve. I hope they start working soon.
As I walk out of the bathroom, I can not help but think about Nina, and it makes my chest tighten a bit. We went to bed without speaking, which I despised, but I was still upset with her and could not pretend. However, as I stand here... The anger that burned s……
