I lay in my California king-sized bed. My head rests on my crossed arms as I stare blankly at the ceiling overhead. I wasn’t sure why I had such a restless night, but something bothered my wolf and me. I wonder if it’s a residual lingering guilt from the bond after killing our true mate?

Perhaps it was the lingering punishment from the great and powerful Goddess. I wasn’t a man to fear an invisible, imaginary mystical being way up in the clouds. I pitied those fearful wimps out there. I was okay with this mild restlessness if this was her punishment for my acts.

My mind kept going back to my true mate. I thought of the evening we met.
