It had been a few days since Alexander found Connie in the cave, and he hadn't left her side since. Vee tries to spend as much time with her as possible, but something about her experience has left Connie--different.
She wasn't her usual sarcastic extrovert self. She couldn't sleep at night, not without someone with her. That person was Alexander. He was accustomed to sleeping on the floor next to her bed.
She couldn't explain it, but she knew she could trust him, which was weird because she knew her friends longer, but Alexander was a stranger, and she trusted him more. Perhaps it was because in the bit of her despair, with the last ounce of her strength, she heard his voice. She couldn't figure it out, but when he wasn't with her, she wondered where he was.
