I turned back to the window, my reflection staring back at me with eyes that felt older, heavier. The night was far from over, and somehow, I knew this was only the beginning.
I stayed by the window longer than I should have, trying to sort through the chaos of the night. My emotions churned—confusion, anger, and something else I couldn’t quite name. The sound of the party carried on behind me, distant and detached, as though I were watching it all from the outside.
Eventually, I decided to slip away, needing air that wasn’t filled with the scent of perfume and champagne. I maneuvered through the crowd, avoiding eye contact with anyone who might stop me, and stepped into the quiet corridor leading to the back gardens. The cool evening breeze kissed my skin, soothing and refreshin……
