Sierra’s POV
Before I could respond, the door burst open, and Mrs. Lawrence stormed in. She was nothing like the warm, maternal figure I’d come to know. Her eyes glowed an eerie silver, her posture rigid and commanding.
“Get away from her,” she snarled, her voice laced with authority.
The man smirked, but he didn’t move. “Ah, Victoria. Still playing protector, I see. How long do you think you can keep her from the truth?”
“That’s none of your concern,” Mrs. Lawrence snapped. “Leave now, or I’ll make you regret it.”
The man chuckled, the sound cold and sharp. “You can’t protect her forever. The moon has chosen, and soon, she’ll have no choice but to embrace her destiny.”
With that, he stepped back toward the window. His form shimmered for a moment, and then, before my eyes, he shifted. His body e……
