Laurel didn't see Darius in the morning and figured he must have left early. She did see Scarlett walking in through the front door.
It was probably Scarlett's good vibes that affected Laurel in some way, as her mood suddenly brightened. Until now, she had not realized that not seeing Darius in the morning made her face fall.
Laurel smiled and waved at her from the dining table. Scarlett skipped over; her high ponytail swung in the air behind her. The cheerful smile was like a shot of dopamine for Laurel as her own smile brightened.
"Where is Darius? Why are you eating alone?" Scarlett was already serving herself breakfast while asking.
"He had something to do, so he left early. He told me yesterday."
"Ooh, so he's building new habits now?" Scarlett teased, her apple-red cheeks bulging with foo……
