Chapter 11: Coup

A Few Months Later

Back in Dartmouth Kingdom

Addison

Roman was a snake, and he brought me into his plans to kill King Aidan and his best friends, I couldn't say anything for fear of them hurting my parents. So, I had to save them no matter what, so when the goddess spoke to me in my dreams, I had to get on making this spell right away. I don't know what she had in store for my mate and his friends, but I couldn't fail, it was now or never, I was racing against the clock trying to save them. I jumped out of my sleep, and I was sweating, I had never dreamed before but maybe it was a vision and I knew what I needed to do. I turned to my left and saw a small bottle of blood, I knew it was the blood of the goddess and a list of where I needed to go to collect my ingredients. I left the Palace without informing anyone if I was to save the people that I love, including my mate, although he hates me.

I took my small ingredients bag, changed into my wolf, and headed toward Faeora, it was closer to us and I could reach there in half a day at full speed in wolf form, I would be back, I estimated in about a day or two before the coronation to get the spell right. I met up with Cayden by the border, and he stopped me and said, "I know, Addison," he had tears in his eyes because he couldn't interfere, and I took his blood, and fairy dust, he let me through his territory, informing everyone to let me pass, it was easier to reach Elvira on the other side of the mountain. I reached Elvira by sundown, and I was tired, King Emile looked at me sitting by the entrance to his territory, he had his younger brother with him. Jared was hurting because Drax was one of his very good friends, he gave me the elvish root, which is rare, and Emile's blood before he opened a portal saying, "King Silas will let you rest for the night, and then Dominic will take you to Vampora where Elijah awaits you."

I was grateful and upon reaching Ironside, he was right, Silas showed me to my room. King Silas and Ivar never saw eye to eye, but they kept neutral on most things, he said, "I don't know what is going on, but I was told to give you the silver dust that is unique to the land along with my blood," he did not disappoint and handed over the items. In the morning, I ate, refreshed, and thanked him for helping me, Dominic opened a portal by the silver tree in the middle of the court and I walked through. Dominic was friendly and was an old friend of Aidan, he wanted to burn the Kingdom down with Roman, but he knew he couldn't interfere and hoped I succeeded in what I needed to do to save them. He helped me reach Vampora and Elijah was not happy, he was willing to go to war with and fight Roman and his lackeys, but after orders from the moon goddess herself.

He gave me what I needed and showed me the easiest way back to my territory with escorts from his guards in case I ran into rogues. I needed to reach there safely to save everyone and he knew this. The others knew there was a possibility that Aidan would think they betrayed him, but they were hoping he didn't and understood this was fate. Whether it happens now or down the road, it was their destiny and I have to believe that, so I can live with myself for hurting them going forward. I reached back to my land about two and a half days before the coronation and used my mother's blood as she was the stronger link to my grandmother getting what I needed from my grandmother. I hadn't been missed for the past three days, and it was a good thing, although Erik lurked in the shadows watching my every move.

Dominic

I have been working with Allan and Mia to locate Pax and their son, she told me he was heading to a haven in the human world that was all she knew. Allan decided to go there and see what he could find out, and we waited, King Aidan had found his mate and invited me to their wedding and coronation. I was happy for him, we went way back and had a treaty with them, I usually don't leave Dragonmare, so I sent him well wishes instead. I woke up to a vision from the moon goddess about something that was going to happen that would change Ravena forever, and we couldn't intervene or tell anyone. I was furious because I was losing someone close to me and I headed down to the portal to meet Lady Addison. I handed her a robe when she changed back, she filled me in about what she was being forced to do, and I wanted to burn that kingdom down with Roman in it but couldn't.

I gave her my blood and a vine from an ancient tree that symbolizes our land just like the moon goddess asked me, it was also mixed with Mia's blood as the true Dragon Queen. Knowing that Roman would double-cross Aidan, reminded me of Pax and what true friendship meant. Pax was ten times better than Roman, he just fell in love with my Queen, I missed him and will stick to my word and not harm him. I wanted Mia to give me a chance and love me, so I wouldn't hurt her by killing her first love and the father of her son, it pains me to know I don't have a child with her, but hopefully, when the time is right. After I led Addison on her path to Vampora, I headed down to meet Mia, she was fast asleep in the guest room, she hadn't gone home last night and I felt good with her closer to me, our bond was growing, the more time we spent together, and I would need to talk to Ruby.

Day After the Coup

When I learned about the deaths of King Aidan, Lord Drax, and Tyrell, I felt a surge of anger, yet I found myself powerless to act, the news reverberated throughout Ravena. Afterward, Cayden and Emile reached out, and we convened to deliberate our next steps, as for the time being, we would maintain peace, but should Roman dare to enter my Kingdom, he would face death immediately. My dragons were ready to go to war to kill Roman, but we calmed them down because things were in play, we just needed to wait until they returned, and then we would enjoy the fun. Mia ran inside and yelled, "Allan may have found him," I looked at her and asked, "Do you want to bring him into this mess if he is in human territory?" She said, "No, but I want to see him, please," Allan looked at me and I smiled saying, "Let's go," we headed to the portal, and he handed me clothes that they bought over there so we could blend in.

Mia held my hand excitedly, I told Ruby about my departure for a few days, leaving Desi in charge, Allan smiled, and we crossed over to human territory. We ended up in a small town, the people were chatting in the street, and they hardly knew we were there, we blended well when I came to an inn, where I saw Pax talking with a man. It seemed as if he either owned the place or was somehow in authority, we went inside and Mia ran over to him as I stood back. Pax looked shocked and hugged her, spinning her around, he went to kiss her, but she stopped him, Theo felt threatened because of Mia's affection for Pax. He looked up and saw me and Allan, he looked around, probably looking for more of my men, and he nodded for us to follow him, we entered a small room, and he asked, "Do you want anything to drink?"

I declined his offer, I could tell he was agitated and Mia held his hand, he said, "You are still beautiful," moving her hair out of her face. I held Theo back remembering my promise to Mia but if he didn't stop flirting with my wife, I would kill him, Mia asked, "Where is our son?" He looked at me and asked, "Is our son safe?" However, I knew he meant Mia, she said, "Yes, Dom gave me his word, I want to see him, please." He looked at me and said, "You don't have to kill me, Dom, I have a life here, I won't ever come back." I walked over to him, and asked, "Did you ever stop to think what your affair did to me?" He said, "I did, but I fell in love with her, Dom, I am sorry," I punched him, and he fell to the floor. Mia said, "Dom, you promise," I said, "I know, but I needed to do that and offered him my hand to help him up to his feet.

Pax wiped his mouth, I busted his lip, and he said, "I guess I deserve that," I said, "I am not going to kill you, I made a promise to my wife. My wife Pax, you can come home, I lifted the ban and pardoned you," He smiled and said, "Thank you, I will make it up to you, I swear on my life, Dom." He seemed sincere and looked at Mia, saying, "Our son, Draven, is deaf, he is a great guy, you will love him, he runs this place with me, we own it. He has stepped out to run some errands, you can stay in one of our rooms and once he arrives, you can meet him, I told him about you, Mia, so he will be glad to see you." She hugged him, and before he showed us where we could stay, I told him about Aidan's death and Roman being the new ruler of Dartmouth, he was shocked. Allan went down to mix with the kind people and Mia looked at me, she ran into my arms, kissing me, and I felt like I had done something good to please her, she mind-linked me, "'Thank you, Dom, thank you."
