“What’s the matter with you guys?” I tried to stop them from bickering with okie another.
“Here comes the subject of our interest,” commented Elijah. “We’ve been looking for you since the morning.”
With a yawn, I told them, “I slept in the woods yesterday. I didn’t have the strength left to make it back to you guys.”
“Was it a matter of strength or guilt?” Spat Elijah.
With my brows in dismay, I asked them, “Are you intentionally being mean to me?”
“You couldn’t put it like that after what you’ve done,” Elijah crossed his arms. His feet faced away from me. “I think it was unnecessary for you to hurt Petra.”
“I didn’t hurt her intentionally. She was my partner. If I hadn’t retrieved my pass from her, I’d be the one buried six deep under the ground,” I tried to argue for my innocence.
