By supporting my back against a tree, I ate the fish. It was my first meal in two days. Tears started welling up in my eyes as I gobbled it down my throat.
“What’s wrong, Harriet? Why are you crying?” Elijah grew concerned over me like an older brother.
While wiping away the tears, I told him, “My tears are a result of the immense amount of gratitude that I feel for the food. I'm not sad.”
“Yes, it has already been two days since we all ate a decent meal,” he had been experiencing the same pain.
His eyes developed tears in them as well. He had been through a lot in a couple of days. From losing his lover to almost becoming depressed. Hence, I felt dejected to act friendly towards him when I was keeping such crucial information from him.
My head necessitated that I keep Holly’s secret to……
