The next day, Lucy and Alice agreed to meet for coffee at a local tea shop. Lucy got up very early and went out while Hale and Avril were still sleeping. The shop was not far, so Lucy was walking. She was in a good mood, was whistling as she walked, and was glad to be alive.
Along the way, she ran into a friend that was walking their dog. They stopped and chatted for a while, Lucy pet the dog, and then she said she had to go. Another block away, and she turned into the alley that led to the tea shop. It was then that she felt a pain in the back of her neck and lost consciousness.
When Lucy awoke it was due to the pain in her hands. She opened her eyes and saw the ceiling of a carriage. Next to her, there was a young girl whose hair was dyed and her faced was p……
