Alice’s flight had landed. She had her luggage, but she couldn’t see Lucy, who had agreed to pick her up. Frustrated by Tony’s rejection, anxious about the crowd, and worried about her ride (and life), Alice began to cry. She wasn’t normally like this but, suddenly, she felt completely overwhelmed. Looking around the airport, she was embarrassed by her current state.
When Tony’s phone rang, Alice was still crying. He checked the caller ID and accepted the call. It was Lucy. Thank God, thought Tony. Perhaps Lucy would be the antidote to Alice.
Tony: “Hello?”
Lucy: “Hi, Tony. This is Lucy. Have you seen Alice?”
Tony: “She is here. We are near the washroom in Arrivals. Please come quickly.”
Lucy: “I am on my way. I can see you from where I am standing. I have Steven with me.”
