Kaos:
We were chasing one of the newer members of our pack through the forest. Jett, a feral shifter, had joined our pack after being abandoned by the rogues who raised him. His blood lust was getting out of control, and recently, he had attacked one of the humans in the community that coexists with our pack. Luckily, we were able to cover it up.
His punishment had yet to be carried out, and the coward ran when he realized what he had done. Feral shifters often had no intention of causing harm; their beast was out of control, not their human.
I was laser-focused, jumping downed trees, speeding up as the forest grew thicker. The three of us were in our element: we were hunters, predators, even as humans, and this was us at our finest. At least, we thought we were until the s……
