"An incredible power is about to blossom in the area. It would be best to find and isolate it," Esther whispered in my ear, making Frankie leave when I wanted to find an excuse to make her stay.

Esther, a unique seer, had been in our pack since we were all four children.

"Not now, Esther." I pushed her out of my head in time to tell Frankie that maybe I wanted to save her from everything. I don't know what possessed me to say that to her. But it slipped out, and now that it was out there, I wouldn't dare take it back.

I felt rooted in spot, watching her search the library calmly yet franticly. She wasn't looking for a book, but trying to figure out what she was searching for was impossible when she wouldn't let me get close enough to ask.
