AT THE SAME TIME
XAVIER'S POINT OF VIEW:
The word lingered in the air like a punch to the chest. "Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy." I blinked at Dr. Patel, the syllables sounding foreign, impossible. My mind felt sluggish like it was wading through a thick fog. I was struggling to reconcile the calm, clinical tone of his voice with the storm brewing in my chest.
“"What…" I started, my throat dry and cracked. “What does that even mean?”
"It’s a genetic condition that affects the heart muscle, making it abnormally thick. This can make it harder for your heart to pump blood effectively. In some cases, it can lead to arrhythmias or even sudden cardiac arrest."Doctor said.
The words hit me like bricks, one after the other, each heavier than the last. My heart wasn’t just sick it was a time bomb.
