AT THE SAME TIME
XAVIER'S POINT OF VIEW:
She took a step toward the counter, but before she could reach it, her knees buckled. Time seemed to slow as I lunged forward, catching her just before she hit the ground.
"Isabella!" I shouted, my heart pounding in my chest.
Her head lolled against my shoulder, and her breathing was shallow and uneven. Panic clawed at me as I gently laid her down on the floor.
"Isabella, wake up!" I pleaded, my voice shaking. Her eyelids fluttered, but she didn’t respond.
Grabbing my phone with trembling hands, I dialed Terrence. The phone rang once, twice, before his voice came through the line.
"Xavier? What’s going on?"He asked.
"It’s Isabella." I said, my voice cracking. "She fainted. She’s pale, and her breathing’s shallow. I don’t know what to do."
