I waited. Silas was very still, his head still in my lap. I glanced down at his face and saw his glassy eyes and even breathing. I smiled with relief. I was getting better at my spells. The feeling of the mana through my veins gave me a euphoric high. I would need a refill on my mana from the witch Kiernan kept prisoner. I had been draining her slowly over the years. Each time I took some of her mana it would take weeks for me to get my wolf back. It was a risk I was willing to take.
"Silas, dear," I spoke to him softly. "It's time to stand up."
He blinked a few times and then silently complied, teetering a little so I had to steady him. I got to my feet and touched his cheek as I peered at his face. My heart broke when I saw the tears on his cheeks. I gently wiped his face and he did……
