I bounced on my feet as we waited. I was full of nervous energy. "Trust me, little sis; you can't be more of a f**k up than me," Tyler told me before chuckling humorlessly. I sighed and squeezed his hand. He took a moment but returned the squeeze. His mood has been dark. I almost wanted to cancel on Tracy. I tried bringing it up to him, and he wouldn't have it.
I opened my mouth to talk to him about leaving, but they walked into the restaurant as I did. We all spoke to each other with an air of awkwardness. I hated this. I wanted to meet her on my terms for a reason. I needed the time to process. I was proud of myself, though, for not just bending and acting like I wasn't hurt that she hadn't been in my life. Old me would have let Tracy explain and accepted her apology before moving ……
