Mr. Davids was waiting on Lilyan in the hallway with a giant grin on his face.
“Good morning, Miss Miller!” He called out to her, waving. He was a middle-aged man with an average physique. He had a bushy mustache that matched his short, brown hair. Lilyan hid herself behind Zayd, wanting to disappear as every student in the vicinity turned to find who the teacher was waving at.
They reached the classroom door and Zayd walked past the teacher and into the room. Lilyan tried to follow, but Mr. Davids stopped her.
“A moment, please?” he smiled down at her. She turned to face him and swallowed.
“Yes?” she asked, hoping that the talk would be short.
“I'd like you to go stand by my desk once the tardy bell rings, okay? I always let my students introduce themselves at the beginning of the year. I ……
