Zayd kissed the top of Lilyan's head before they parted, then continued past her house toward his own. He knew that there were at least two soldiers watching the house at all times and someone would call him if anything happened. That did not stop him from regretting leaving her alone. He walked down the sidewalk, heading to the base that he had claimed nearly a week ago. Thanks to the agency's help, he now owned the house that had previously been unoccupied.
He walked through the front door. Unlike Lilyan, he did not worry about locking everything behind him. He would easily be able to protect himself from any unwanted intruders.
“Novar,” a voice called his last name from the other room. Zayd flicked the light on to see his commander standing up from Zayd's couch. Zayd immediately stood……
