Lilyan awoke to an odd, high-pitched beeping noise. She sat up and turned on her lamp that was on the side table to see Zayd pressing a button on his watch. A glance back at her clock showed that it was 5 am. Thank the stars that he had remembered to set an alarm because she hadn't. Lilyan jumped out of bed and rushed to her closet, going around Zayd and his sleeping bag, and flicked on the closet light.
“I guess I'll be in the shower,” Zayd chuckled.
“Okay,” she responded. Then she shut the closet door and looked around her at the closet full of new clothes. It was her first day of eleventh grade. She was a junior, half a year earlier than planned. Lilyan wanted to make a good impression.
There was a full-length mirror hanging on the back of her closet door. She proceeded to take half an……
