I ended the video call with the twins and left the room. I found my Mom sitting on the front porch, looking at the stars. She had a wistful look on her face.
"Mom, can I get your help with something, please?" I asked.
"Sure, sweetheart. What is it?" my Mom answered, looking at me.
"I just got off the phone with the twins, and they asked for my help. Can you help me do a protection spell for them this week?" I said quickly.
My mom noticed my demeanor, turned her body to face me completely, and patted the seat beside her. I sat down and looked at her, not bothering to try and hide my worry.
"First of all, what is going on? Knowing that will help me know the best spell and whether we need to ask your grandmother for help," my Mom responded calmly.
