RUBY JUNE.
Today, Charles had been especially considerate, promising not to overwork me. I was tidying up files and organizing Charles’s schedule at my desk when a delivery man called my name. He handed me a large bouquet of flowers and asked for my signature to confirm receipt. The flowers were tulips, their vibrant colors catching my eye. I wondered who had sent them.
I placed the bouquet on my desk and noticed a card among the blooms. It read:
“I’m sorry for leaving you alone at the pool. I hope these flowers brighten your day.
Love, Bruno.”
A smile spread across my face as I inhaled their sweet fragrance. Still captivated by their beauty, I barely noticed Charles appear at the door.
“Who’s got you grinning like that?” he asked, leaning casually against the frame.
