I crouched beside Charles, my breath quickening as I watched the poison take full control of his body. His choking gasps for air were agonizing to hear, his once strong form now trembling as blood dripped from the corners of his nose and eyes. Panic spread across his face, his body betraying him as the poison worked its deadly magic.
I raised the alarm. “Help! Someone, help!” I screamed, making sure the sound echoed through the halls.
It didn’t take long for the Luna—my aunt—and the guards to burst into the room, the Luna’s eyes widening in horror at the sight of her beloved son lying helpless on the floor. Her face drained of color, and with a strangled sob, she collapsed beside him, cradling him in her arms, her tears falling onto his pale skin.
“What happened to him?” she cried, clut……
