Temporary insanity.
That was the only explanation I could rustle up. Why else would I be compelled to kiss Bethany outside in the cold garage?
It couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that Beth was still as beautiful as ever. I’d never been able to resist that gorgeous red hair, or that creamy skin, and those big grey eyes that seemed to hold the whole universe in their smoky depths.
It wasn’t an accident that I’d kept an ocean between me and that woman. Not only that, but I’d built up a sort of caricature of her in my mind, which was remarkably similar to the opinion my father had held of her. My father had believed that Beth was only using me to escape from the terrible home she’d grown up in. That she was a selfish, scheming woman who only cared about the money in……
