Having a handicapped accessible van was a game changer, and I decided to take Charlie and Lucy with me to shop for the materials for Sophia’s custom wedding gown. It was so nice to pull into the handicapped space, unlock the wheelchair, and simply push a button to lower her to the ground.
We entered the fabric store, and I felt a little buzz of excitement. There was something magical about all the bolts of cloth, arranged and displayed, so full of potential - that made me feel almost giddy. My fingers itched to touch and to feel the different weaves and textures. I pushed Charlie up and down the aisles, until we reached the section dedicated to white silks, satins and other materials suitable for bridal gowns.
I wheeled Charlie close to the display. “What do you think, Charlie?”
