I open my eyes to the morning light that filters through the curtains and it causes me to squint. My body feels heavy. As I shift, my arms aches and the memories of the previous night comes flooding back…the poison, the pain and how it happened. After the conversation I had with the king, I rushed out of the house to bawl my eyes out. I was so caught up in the sounds of my own tears that I failed to recognize the shadow right behind me. As soon as I did, the man in the shadow spotted the difference in my reaction and he swung his sword at me.
Due to the way I ran, it was only able to strike my arm. The assassin was bent on killing me until he heard the king’s voice and as fast as lightning, I ran away when I got the chance. Quickly, I knew it was poison because of the w……
