I turn to Melissa who she is referring to. As soon as Lupita, the queen of Arcadia mentions her, everyone’s eyes turn to Melissa—there is a symphony of whispers that spreads and I presume that it is because of the colour of her eyes and what it tells.

“I didn’t know you had taken a wolfen queen.” Lupita says, from the way she relaxes her cold shoulders, I can tell she is interested in Melissa.

“A queen….”

“Lupita, if I crowned a queen to rule beside me…every kingdom, near or far to the northern seas, including that Leviathan of yours would have heard. This is my healer, Melissa.” I introduce.

“You took a wolfen as a healer. She doesn’t have a wolf. How can she understand the complexities of a Gevaudan? You are a beast amongst wolves we hear.” Lupita says.
