I quietly opened the door to Keir’s place, my heart heavy from the day’s revelations. Tiptoeing inside, I made my way toward his bedroom, knowing he must have been asleep by now.
We had spoken earlier, just after he had taken a shower. It was around 1 p.m. then, and he had told me he was going to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Now, it was past 3 p.m. After finishing my classes at 2 p.m., I had to go to Lira’s place. The news about the Buscos had shocked me, and I immediately rushed to check on Lira, knowing she must have been devastated.
The loss of life was unimaginable—staggering. When I got there, Lira was sobbing in her bed, completely inconsolable and I stayed with her for a while, holding her, but nothing I said could ease the grief she was feeling.
