AT THE BUSCOS
Mrs. Busco's cries filled the room and echoed off the walls like a haunting wail. She collapsed to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably, her whole body shaking with despair and terror. Everything felt out of control–her husband was about to charge into an unwinnable war.
Suddenly, she felt arms wrap around her. Zoraya, who had been quietly standing on the staircase, watching the chaos unfold, had rushed to her side. Mrs. Busco looked at her daughter, her eyes swollen with tears, and they collapsed into each other, their sobs blending in a shared moment of fear.
