The room fell silent, my words hanging in the air like poison, spreading slowly and sinking into every corner. Maia's face paled, frozen in shock, as her mother's mouth opened and closed but made no sound. Then, in a whisper, her voice came, “What?”
“That’s her,” I muttered with a hoarse voice. “This is my ex-mate.” I continued, and Maia's mother finally found her voice. "Keir, I'm so sorry—" she tried to say, but the words didn't reach me. I wasn’t even in that room anymore.
A burst of heat burned up my spine, coursing through my chest like wildfire. The sight of Zoraya, my mate, who almost killed me, flooded my mind and the memories I was still trying to bury came crashing down on me with relentless force.
